Pre-event Questions

How do I join the event?

You will have been sent joining instructions from the college to your registration email address.

If you do not have your joining instructions, please contact us.

Make sure to create a Zoom account with the same email address as your event registration!

What device should I use?

We recommend a desktop, laptop or tablet, rather than a phone for the best large-screen experience.

Will I need headphones and a mic?

Headphones, although not essential, may enable you to concentrate on lectures more easily, by cutting out distractions.

A microphone is not required.

What internet speed do I need?

If you are able to stream video from YouTube, Netflix, Disney+, etc, you will be able to watch this event.

If your Wi-Fi is slow, we recommend connecting directly to your internet box (router) via a cable.

If you connection is slow/poor and you share internet with others, please ask them to disconnect or refrain from gaming/streaming.

Please do not connect to the event on your mobile device, via your mobile internet/data.

Do I need any software/apps?

You will not require specialist software or apps, as you will access the event via your internet browser.

What web-browser should I use?

Please use either the Chrome or Safari internet browsers.

Internet Explorer does not work.

Is my web-browser up-to-date?

Please ensure that you are using the latest version of your internet browser.

We recommend either the Chrome or Safari internet browsers.

How to check and update:

  • Chrome browser: 3-dot menu (top-right) > Settings > About Chrome > update and restart if prompted
  • Safari (option 1): Apple menu () > Software Update > perfrom all updates
  • Safari (option 2): Spotlight search > App Store > Updates > if Safari is listed select; Update
  • Firefox: 3-line menu (top-right) > Help > About Firefox > update and restart if prompted
  • Edge: 3-dot menu (top-right) > Help & Feedback > About Microsoft Edge > update and restart if prompted

Event Questions

...when first accessing or during the event

I am unable to connect?

Follow the joining instructions sent to your registration email address.

Please also ensure that your browser is up-to-date, by following the pre-event instructions above. We recommend Chrome or Safari.

I have connection issues?

Slow | Laggy | Choppy | Frozen

Ensure that you are connected to Wi-Fi or directly to the internet box (router) and not via mobile internet/data.

If you are connected via Wi-Fi, ensure that your connection is strong, with full bars.

If you share an internet connection with others, ask them to come off the internet or to stop streaming/gaming.

Please also ensure that your browser is up-to-date, by following the pre-event instructions above. We recommend Chrome or Safari.

I can't hear anything?

Please try this audio test:

I am unable to hear the horse:

Your device is having issues with sound, rather than the event. Please try to adjust your device's volume or audio-output.

I am able to hear the horse:

When joining the event, a pop-up appeared asking you to accept the audio. You may not have agreed, so please click on the padlock icon, in the browser address bar and unblock the audio.

  • Chrome browser: Padlock > Site Settings > Sound > Allow

I got cut off?

Simply re-join the event in the same way as initially instructed.

I am unable to resolve my issues?

There is an attendee at the event called "CAW Events". Please send them a private message, rather than posting a message in the public chat, where it may be missed.

Post-event Questions

How do I access the event recording?

After the event, instructions for accessing the event video recordings, will be sent to your registration email address. You will have access to stream the videos for one year.

If the event has been held previously, then you may have free access to those recordings also… did I mention that they're free?

How do I access the event certificate?

After the event, instructions for accessing the event certificate PDF, will be sent to your registration email address.
