FREE dog grooming training at The College of Animal Welfare available to eligible people

If you’re tired of your 9-5 job and want a career that you’re passionate about, training to become a dog groomer could be your next career move! City & Guilds accredited dog grooming courses, run by The College of Animal Welfare, give learners the experience and knowledge needed to secure long-term career prospects within the dog grooming industry.

Over the course of the qualifications, learners will develop the practical skills needed to provide a professional dog grooming service, covering how to use dog grooming equipment to groom and style a variety of dog breeds to owner requirements or breed standard. What’s more – the College currently sometimes has funding available to offer FREE training to certain groups of people, subject to availability, such as:

City & Guilds Level 2 Certificate for Dog Grooming Assistants

  • Those aged 19+ who are unemployed and in receipt of benefits
  • Those aged 19-23 undertaking their first Level 2 qualification (learners can be employed)

City & Guilds Level 3 Certificate in Introductory Dog Grooming

  • Those aged 19-23 undertaking their first Level 3 qualification (learners can be employed or unemployed)

Lesley Wilson, Head of Animal Care at The College of Animal Welfare, said: ‘We’re delighted to be able to offer free training to eligible learners. Many of our former students have gone on to, not only become successful dog groomers working in established parlours, but open up their own dog grooming businesses too.’

Learners undertaking block and day release courses will train with guidance from qualified dog groomers in our state-of-the-art grooming suite. Further information on block and day release courses starting in 2017 can be found at www.caw.ac.uk or by calling us on 01480 422060.
