National Living Wage and Minimum Wage Increases

Please be aware increases to the National Living Wage and minimum wages have now come into effect. The hourly rate for the minimum wage depends on your age and whether you’re an apprentice. The current rates, as of April 2017, are as follows…

Age 25 or over: £7.50
21-24: £7.05
18-20: £5.60
Under 18: £4.05
Apprentice: £3.50

Apprentices

Apprentices are entitled to the apprentice rate if they’re either:

  • aged under 19
  • aged 19 or over and in the first year of their apprenticeship

Apprentices are entitled to the minimum wage for their age if they both:

  • are aged 19 or over
  • have completed the first year of their apprenticeship
