The College of Animal Welfare is delighted to announce that TP Congress 2016, two days of CPD dedicated to clinical coaches and those involved in the training of student veterinary nurses, is now open for registration.
Held on the 29 February and 1 March 2016, TP Congress is moving to a new and exciting venue – the iconic Whittlebury Hall Hotel and Spa in Northamptonshire. Whittlebury Hall offers modern facilities, beautiful surroundings and is conveniently located just off the A43 close to the Silverstone circuit.
A range of hand-picked speakers will cover coaching support skills, teaching and training as well as legislation and regulation in the veterinary world.
Coaching Support Skills
Back by popular demand Anne-Marie Aylott, Purple Cat Coaching, will discuss essential coaching tips and practical tools you can use to get your students working at their best as quickly as possible. You’ll go home with great ideas to incorporate in your daily work
Carolyne Crowe, Veterinary Coach and Mentor will share practical tools and tips for understanding and communicating with others more effectively, as well as helping you gain techniques that will make a difference to your work-life balance.
Teaching and Training
Returning speaker, Vicky Hedges, Examinations Manager for the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) will bring you up to speed with preparing your students for their final hurdle – passing their OSCEs. Vicky will give you a ‘behind the scenes’ look at what examiners look for in a student, how they decide what tasks to run and how they set up for exams.
Lucy Bellwood, Centre Coordinator at Myerscough College will guide you through Nursing Progress Log (NPL) training; highlighting simulations, scenarios and secondments as ways of helping your student complete if your practice doesn’t see the range of cases required.
Newly Ofqual approved awarding organisation, VetSkill, will provide an update on its accredited qualifications and how to progress further once becoming a Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN).
Legislation and Regulation
VN Council Vice-Chair, Kathy Kissick will take you back through the years of veterinary nursing and show how far the nursing profession has come.
Julie Dugmore, Head of Veterinary Nursing at the RCVS, will share the latest RCVS news and how it may affect you and your students. Whilst Gemma Kingswell, DC Clerk at the RCVS will explain why the RCVS Health Protocol is important and how it works in practice.
